BCPS Holds Masterclass to Upskill Communications Professionals in Artificial Intelligence

9 August, Sunday: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant technology of the future, but a day-to-day productivity tool for communications professionals. To equip industry practitioners with practical AI capabilities, the Bangladesh Communications Professionals Society (BCPS) organized a specialized hands-on masterclass in the capital.

The masterclass, titled 'Use of AI in Development Communications', took place on Saturday (August 8) at the Unnayan Shamannay Auditorium in Banglamotor, Dhaka. Approximately 35 communications professionals representing development organizations, corporate entities, news media, government agencies, and academic institutions attended the training.

The session focused on practical applications of various AI tools, effective prompt engineering, automated drafting for press releases and reports, social media content creation, and data analytics to optimize workflow efficiency.

The masterclass was facilitated by Md. Abdur Rouf, Creative Lead (AI) at Nagad, alongside Maliha Tabassum, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at BUP and Research Director at BCPS. They guided participants through practical exercises involving storytelling, presentation design, and content refinement using AI frameworks.

Highlighting the vision of the initiative, BCPS Chairperson Tony Michael Gomez remarked, "AI will not replace communications professionals; rather, professionals who effectively leverage AI will lead the future. Upskilling professionals to keep pace with evolving tech is the call of the hour." The program was coordinated by Zakia Haq Nila, Director of Capacity Building at BCPS.
