Samsung is reportedly preparing a major shift in its smartphone strategy for 2027 as the South Korean technology giant aims to further strengthen its position in the premium smartphone market. According to a recent report by Korean technology news outlet ET News, the company plans to unveil a total of eight new flagship smartphones throughout the year.

'Four Plus Four' Flagship Strategy

According to the report, Samsung intends to divide its annual product launch schedule into two phases under a new "Four Plus Four" or "4+4" strategy. The company is expected to introduce four conventional flagship smartphones during the first half of the year, followed by four foldable flagship models in the second half.

Technology analysts believe the unprecedented move is designed to intensify Samsung's competition in the global premium smartphone market.

Galaxy S27 Series

Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy S27 series is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027. While previous Galaxy S series lineups typically featured three models, the upcoming generation is rumored to add a fourth variant.

Alongside the relatively affordable Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus, and the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra, Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S27 Pro for the first time.

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S27 Pro will feature a 6.47-inch display and serve as a more compact alternative to the Galaxy S27 Ultra while offering premium features and a powerful camera system.

Expansion of the Foldable Lineup

In the second half of the year, Samsung is expected to unveil a new generation of foldable smartphones. The lineup is rumored to include the Galaxy G Flip 9, Galaxy G Fold 9, Galaxy G Fold 9 Ultra, and the second-generation tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy G TriFold 2.

Recent rumors suggesting that Samsung might discontinue the Galaxy Flip series appear to have been disproved by reports pointing to the arrival of the Galaxy G Flip 9.

At the same time, Samsung has reportedly already begun preliminary development of the Galaxy G TriFold 2 and has initiated discussions with key component suppliers. The unique tri-fold smartphone is expected to retain its 9.96-inch main display while adopting a noticeably slimmer design than its predecessor.
