WhatsApp Develops Motion Photo Support for Android

WhatsApp is reportedly working on introducing motion photo support for its Android version. This feature will allow users to share motion photos, which include short video and audio clips along with a still image. The Verge reported the development.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature has been experimentally integrated into the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.25.8.12 update, though it has not yet been activated.

Motion photos are primarily captured by specific Android devices and store a brief video and audio segment alongside a still image. Similar to Apple’s Live Photos on iOS, this feature, once fully implemented, will enable users to share motion photos in chats and channels on WhatsApp.

Since the feature is still in the testing phase, there is no confirmed release timeline. However, it is expected to be initially available to Android beta testers before being rolled out to all users.
