Bangladesh has released a special commemorative postage stamp in honor of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam during the official inauguration of the nationwide Nazrul Year 2026–27 celebrations.

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman inaugurated the festival on Thursday morning via video conference from the Cabinet Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Post and Telecommunications Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Post and Telecommunications Secretary Bilkis Jahan Rimi, and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam.

As part of the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman unveiled the commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover, and a data card. He also addressed the event, which was presided over by Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury. Other speakers included State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Information, Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, and Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula.

The Bangladesh Post Office regularly issues commemorative postage stamps marking nationally and internationally significant occasions and honoring distinguished personalities, contributing to the preservation of the country's history and heritage.
