A joint book reading initiative by bKash and Bishwo Shahitto Kendra, aimed at fostering reading habits and creative thinking among school students, has been expanded to the districts of Faridpur and Madaripur. Under the programme, 40,000 books will be distributed to educational institutions across Bangladesh this year.

Recently, books were distributed to students from 11 schools in Faridpur and Madaripur. Separate distribution ceremonies were held at the Faridpur Shishu Academy Auditorium and the Madaripur District Shilpakala Academy.

In Faridpur, Mazharul Islam, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, handed over the books to students, while in Madaripur the books were distributed by Marzina Akter, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate. The events were attended by Khondkar Md. Asaduzzaman, Executive Director of Bishwo Shahitto Kendra, Humayun Kabir, Head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at bKash, and other officials concerned.

As part of the programme, a quiz competition on contemporary topics was organized for students from Classes VI to X. Prizes were later awarded to the winners.

Bishwo Shahitto Kendra has long been conducting its nationwide book reading programme to promote learning beyond textbooks, stimulate imagination, and nurture human values among students. To further expand the initiative, bKash has been supporting the programme as a partner since 2014.

According to the organizers, more than 400,000 books have been distributed across the country under the programme so far, benefiting over 3.4 million students from nearly 3,000 educational institutions.
