BGB Stops Push-In Attempt at Shibganj Border

order Guard Bangladesh said it prevented an attempt to push 20 people into Bangladesh through the Shibganj border in Chapainawabganj following a brief standoff with India’s BSF.
A video showing members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in a face-off at the Shibganj border in Chapainawabganj has circulated widely on social media.
In the clip, BGB personnel appear to maintain a firm position and can be heard saying they would not move first from the location.
According to officials, the incident took place at around 10:00am on Saturday (20 June) at the Chouka border point, where an alleged attempt was made to push 20 people into Bangladesh.
BGB said its patrol team intervened and prevented the entry. Following the intervention, the group remained on the Indian side of the zero line before later being taken back by BSF personnel.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Commanding Officer of the 59 BGB Battalion, confirmed the incident and said border monitoring has been strengthened to prevent similar attempts.
According to BGB, the group included 11 women, four children and five men.
Local sources said the situation remained under observation before the individuals were eventually returned to Indian territory around 12:30pm.
