Customs to Sell Long-Stored Airport Goods Through Special E-Auction

Dhaka Customs House has announced a special e-auction to sell various categories of goods that have remained stored for a long period at the Air Freight Unit and Express Service Unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Thursday, June 18.

According to the statement, the goods will be sold on an “as-is, where-is” basis through an online auction platform. Interested buyers have been invited to submit bids electronically.

Under a special order issued by the NBR, if the reserve price for a lot is not met during the first auction, the lot may still be awarded to the highest bidder among the offers received.

The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency, enhance storage capacity, reduce security risks and prevent wastage of state assets.

Interested bidders may register or log in to the designated e-auction platform and submit bids online from 9:00 am on June 19 until 1:00 pm on July 2.

The NBR said the entire auction process will be conducted digitally. To ensure transparency and accountability, bidders will be allowed to physically inspect the goods before submitting their offers online.

However, participants will still be required to submit pay orders for bid security deposits and other necessary documents to the designated tender box.

The notice further states that successful bidders must clear the goods in accordance with applicable provisions of the Import Policy Order.

Information on participating bidders generated through the e-auction software will be disclosed at 3:00 pm on July 2 at the conference room of Dhaka Customs House.

The NBR said similar auction initiatives will continue in the future to improve the efficiency and operational effectiveness of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
