Third Terminal to Boost Capacity with Smart Immigration and Automated Customs
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman Siddique has said that passenger handling capacity at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will increase by one-and-a-half to two times once the Third Terminal becomes operational.
He shared this information on Thursday morning, 14 May, during a courtesy meeting with the Bangladesh Aviation Tourism Journalists Association. A 15-member delegation from BATJA was present at the meeting.
The CAAB Chairman stated that the Third Terminal will incorporate modern immigration systems and automated customs facilities to enhance passenger services. In addition, the inclusion of multi-level car parking will help reduce traffic congestion.
He also noted that network connectivity will not be a major issue at the Third Terminal, adding that coverage can be further improved by installing repeaters.
Highlighting the government’s priorities in the aviation sector, Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman Siddique said that processes are underway to reopen eight closed airports, including Bogura, Ishwardi, Thakurgaon, and Lalmonirhat.
