Apple is preparing to bring major changes to the iPhone user experience, with a particular focus on a complete redesign of the iPhone camera app. According to a report by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, the upcoming “iOS 27” update will make the camera app more customizable and better suited for professional users. The announcement may come at Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC 2026, scheduled to begin on 8 June.

Customizable Camera Interface

The biggest change in iOS 27 is expected to be the camera interface itself. Previously, users had to operate the camera within Apple’s fixed layout, but now they will be able to customize camera buttons and settings according to their needs. A new “Add Widgets” tray will allow users to place options such as resolution, flash, and Live Photos in preferred locations. Advanced controls like depth-of-field and exposure will also become easier to access and use.

Artificial Intelligence Integration

Apple is also integrating artificial intelligence (AI) directly into the camera app. A special “Siri mode” will be included inside the camera, allowing users to take a photo and instantly search for objects or translate text. AI-powered new photo editing tools may also be introduced in this update.

Redesigned Siri and Dynamic Island

Siri’s animation is also set to undergo a major redesign. Instead of appearing around the edges of the screen, the new glowing Siri animation will now be integrated within the Dynamic Island. In addition, the traditional Spotlight Search is being replaced by a new “Search or Ask” interface, allowing users to chat directly with Siri. A dedicated “Siri app” will also be introduced to view past conversations.

Other Minor Updates

Alongside improvements to the camera and Siri, iOS 27 is expected to bring several additional updates:

  • Safari: A new start page will be introduced.
  • Weather App: More detailed weather information will be displayed.
  • Image Playground: The AI-based image generation app will feature a simplified design.

Technology experts say Apple rarely makes major changes to its camera interface. As a result, the iOS 27 overhaul is expected to be a significant surprise for both general users and professional photographers.
