Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) has reported new progress in industry, research, advanced packaging, and technology commercialization during the ongoing Bangladesh–Korea Semiconductor Roadshow in South Korea.

On Wednesday, 13 May, strategic discussions and cooperation initiatives between semiconductor-related organizations from Bangladesh and South Korea were strengthened through various programmes held in Seoul. The initiative is part of Bangladesh’s long-term “Silicon River” vision, which aims to build a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem through innovation, research, advanced packaging, skilled human resource development, and technology commercialization.

At the beginning of the day, the BSIA delegation visited SK hynix’s advanced semiconductor packaging facility, where they gained firsthand insights into AI-era memory packaging, heterogeneous integration, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Later, a strategic meeting was held with Charles An, President of SK hynix’s Packaging and Testing Division, along with senior officials. During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Mostafa Hossain presented Bangladesh’s emerging semiconductor ecosystem and the “Silicon River” vision. He stated that Bangladesh’s long-term strategy is to generate global value through innovation-driven technology, AI-based systems, and advanced engineering capabilities.

BSIA President M A Jabbar also participated in the roadshow, highlighting the importance of transforming research, commercialization, skill development, and international collaboration into an integrated ecosystem.

The delegation later visited Hana Micron, an OSAT firm in South Korea.

One of the most significant events of the day was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between Korea Institute of Science and Technology Global Commercialization Center (KIST GCC), CREST, and BSIA. Under this collaboration, the parties will work jointly on semiconductor research, technology commercialization, advanced packaging, AI semiconductor technology, and talent development.

At the LOI signing ceremony, M A Jabbar described the initiative as an important step toward research, commercialization, and ecosystem integration. Dr. Muhammad Mostafa Hossain, on the other hand, highlighted CREST’s international engagement and its integrated vision for AI-focused technological development.

BSIA member organizations participating in the roadshow included Dynamic Solutions Innovators, iTest Bangladesh Limited, Neural Semiconductor Limited, Prime Silicon Technology Limited, Siliconova Limited, and Ulkasemi Private Limited.

BSIA stated that this roadshow is part of Bangladesh’s broader “Silicon River” vision, which aims to build a strong deep-tech ecosystem based on innovation, research, technology commercialization, and international collaboration.
