Consulate Commemorates Independence Day in Los Angeles
The Bangladesh Consulate in Los Angeles observed the Great Independence and National Day 2026 with due dignity and solemnity. Marking the occasion, the national flag was formally hoisted in the morning at the consulate premises accompanied by the rendition of the national anthem. A documentary on Independence Day produced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was also screened.
Subsequently, a discussion meeting was organized at the consulate to commemorate the day, where expatriate Bangladeshis participated enthusiastically. The program began with a one-minute silence in deep respect for all martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Great Liberation War. Messages from the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs were then read out.
In the discussion session, speakers reflected on the memories of the Great Liberation War and the struggle for independence. They highlighted the significance of independence, the importance of strengthening national unity, and accelerating the country’s development trajectory.
In his remarks, the Honorable Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate in Los Angeles, Mr. Kazi Muhammad Javed Iqbal, paid deep tribute to all martyrs of the Great Liberation War, valiant freedom fighters, and the women who suffered, as well as all who contributed to the independence struggle. Emphasizing the significance of Independence and National Day, he stated that inspired by patriotism, it is possible to further consolidate the country’s development through collective efforts. He called upon expatriate Bangladeshis to actively contribute to the country’s progress and stressed the importance of upholding Bangladesh’s image and dignity on the international stage. He expressed hope that all would work together in unity for the welfare of the nation to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
The program concluded with a special prayer (dua and munajat) seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs of the Great Liberation War and continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the country.
