Six JUST Students Receive ‘Deans Award’ for Academic Excellence

Six meritorious students from different departments under the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have been awarded the ‘Deans Award’. The award was conferred in recognition of their outstanding results in the Bachelor (Honours) examinations of the 2019–20 academic session.

The Deans Award distribution ceremony was organized by the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology of JUST on Sunday, March 8, at 3:00 pm at the Virtual Classroom of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building of the university. The Vice-Chancellor of JUST, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the students as the chief guest, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid said that any academic award during university life is a matter of pride and honor for a student. He expressed hope that the awardees would maintain this honor and continue their journey of success in the future. He also remarked that there are no boundaries to acquiring knowledge in the world and expressed his expectation that the students would travel beyond the country’s borders in pursuit of knowledge.

The recipients of the Deans Award include Md. Washim Khan and Tasmit Rafa from the Department of Environmental Science and Technology (EST); Naimuz Jahab and Liha Khanam from the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology (NFT); and G. M. Tasnimul Karim and Munmun Nahar from the Department of Food Engineering (FE).

Special guest at the event was JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun. Other speakers included Professor Dr. Shirin Nigar, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology and convener of the event; Professor Dr. Gopal Chandra Ghosh, Chairman of the EST Department; Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Biswas, Chairman of the FE Department; and Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman of the Climate and Disaster Management Department, among others.

The program was conducted by Assistant Professor Fatema-Tuz-Zohra of the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology (NFT), in the presence of teachers and students from various departments of the university.
