Khulna University Hosts Workshop on Practical AI Use in University Administration
A training workshop titled “Practical Use of Artificial Intelligence in University Administration” was held at Khulna University (KU), focusing on the sustainable application of artificial intelligence (AI) in administrative operations. The workshop was organized by the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and took place on Thursday, January 22, at the Simulation Lab of the Mathematics Discipline.
The workshop was inaugurated by Khulna University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan. Following the inaugural session, Professor Dr Abdullah-Al-Nahid of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Discipline of Khulna University served as the resource person, delivering an in-depth presentation on various aspects of artificial intelligence and its practical applications.
Conducted in two batches, the training workshop was attended by officials from different administrative levels of the university.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan said that countries leading in technology are also socially, economically and culturally advanced. In the current era of rapid technological advancement, artificial intelligence has become critically important, he noted. Those who fail to acquire skills in AI may face professional risks in the future, he warned.
He emphasized that university officials must maintain a strong willingness to learn and adapt themselves to the changing times. The influence of AI is steadily increasing in everyday life, he added, creating new learning opportunities on a daily basis. Expressing optimism, the vice-chancellor said the training would further enhance the institutional capacity of Khulna University’s officials.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr Md Salauddin, Additional Director of IQAC, while the welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr Md Wasiul Islam, also an Additional Director of IQAC.
The programme was moderated by Deputy Registrar Md Nurul Islam Siddiqui. Khulna University Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nurunnabi attended as a special guest and addressed the session.
In his remarks, Professor Dr Md Nurunnabi said that adapting to change has become the greatest challenge of the present time. He stressed the importance of acquiring new skills to utilize AI effectively. While AI has made life easier, he cautioned that it also carries certain risks, and awareness of those risks is essential. He echoed the vice-chancellor’s view, expressing hope that the training would further strengthen the institutional capacity of university officials.
