JUST Hosts Jubilant Freshers’ Welcome and Farewell Festivities

A vibrant program celebrating freshers and bidding farewell to outgoing students was held at the Finance and Banking (FB) Department of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), featuring flower presentations, photo sessions, and cultural performances.

On Wednesday, December 3, the FB Department organized the event at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. The ceremony welcomed new students and honored departing ones. The Chief Guest of the event was JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, while the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Dr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain, attended as a Special Guest.

In his speech, Dr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain encouraged the new students to develop their latent entrepreneurial talents and emphasized the importance of preparing for corporate life through diligence. He also highlighted the significance of self-reliance and ethics for the outgoing students as they enter professional life.

Presiding over the program, FB Department Chair Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam discussed advancements in fintech, digital finance, and banking technologies, as well as aspects of the global financial revolution. He urged students to stay abreast of contemporary financial technologies to keep pace with the rapidly evolving tech-driven financial sector.

Following the discussion, prizes were awarded to champions, runners-up, and participants of various sports competitions organized during Sports Week. Departmental gift items were also distributed among the new students.

Other speakers at the event included JUST Proctor Dr. Eng. Imran Khan, with faculty members such as Assistant Professor A. H. M. Shahriar, Lecturers Al Amin Biswas, Nishat Rumali, and Md. Shahanur Rahman in attendance, alongside students. The evening concluded with an engaging cultural program featuring departmental students.
