Intel Announces Additional $208 Million Investment in Malaysia
Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that US chipmaker Intel has committed an additional investment of 860 million ringgit—approximately USD 208 million—in the country, reports Reuters.
He shared in a social media post on Monday that the decision came following his meeting with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan. The new investment will primarily be used to expand assembly and testing operations.
Intel had earlier announced in 2021 that it would build a USD 7 billion advanced chip packaging plant in Malaysia. The latest investment is expected to further accelerate that ongoing project.
