JUST VC Voices Grief over Student’s Sudden Death from Dengue and Stroke

The Vice-Chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Professor Dr. Md Abdul Majid, has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Pranab Kundu, a student of the 2015–16 academic session of the Department of Food Engineering (formerly Agro Product Processing Technology – APPT).

According to his teachers and classmates, he passed away at 2:48 am on Monday, 17 November, at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital after suffering from dengue and a brain stroke. He had been ill with dengue for several days. His untimely death has cast a pall of grief over teachers, students, officers, and staff of JUST. Pranab Kundu’s father is Prafulla Kundu, and their ancestral home is in Mushuria village under Sadar Police Station in Narail district.

In his condolence message, the JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Abdul Majid said,
“The untimely death of Pranab Kundu, a meritorious student of Jashore University of Science and Technology, is truly heartbreaking for us. With his sudden passing, JUST has lost a talented student, and the irreparable loss suffered by his family can never be compensated. I pray for the peace of his departed soul and extend my deepest condolences to his bereaved family members, long-time teachers, classmates, and all concerned. I also thank the teachers, classmates, and people from various walks of life who stood by him during his illness.”

Meanwhile, Pranab Kundu’s sudden death has plunged the teachers, officers, and staff of JUST into deep mourning. Various departments and organizations—including the Department of Food Engineering, the Office of Student Counselling and Guidance, the Journalists’ Association, and several social and cultural groups—have also expressed profound grief and sorrow over his passing.
