CUET Commends Cutting-Edge HIT Projects
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) hosted a felicitation ceremony for the recipients of the final projects under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HIT) Project on Sunday, October 12. The event took place at CUET’s Academic Council Hall, with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya, attending as the chief guest.
The award-winning HIT projects included:

Improvement of Classrooms and Laboratories with Modern Facilities to Create a Smart and Effective Teaching-Learning Environment, led by SPM Professor Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman (Mechanical Engineering Department), ASPM Professor Dr. Md. Arafat Rahman, and members Tafsirul Hasan and Hridoy Masum Miraj.

Establishing a Knowledge Hub for Sustainable Low-Carbon and Advanced Construction Materials, led by SPM Professor Dr. G.M. Sadikul Islam (Civil Engineering Department), ASPM Professors Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Dr. Ayesha Akhtar, and member Md. Asifur Rahman.

Strengthening Capacity of the Structural Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Disaster Engineering and Management, CUET for Promoting Advanced Research on Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure Development, led by SPM Professor Dr. Md. Abul Hasan (Disaster Management and Engineering Department), ASPM Dr. Shafayat Bin Ali, and member Fahmida Parvin.

Establishment of Advanced Materials Research Laboratory for Energy Storage Capacity Enhancement, led by SPM Professor Dr. Md. Mohi Uddin (Physics Department), ASPM Dr. Md. Moktar Hossain, SPM Professor Dr. Md. Ashraf Ali, and member Professor Dr. Nusrat Jahan.

Development of Sustainable Techniques for Controlling Emerging Contaminants in Urban Wastewater Using Advanced Oxidation Processes, led by SPM Professor Dr. Yunus Ahmed (Chemistry Department), ASPM Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, and member Sanjida Mukut.

Establishment of a Technology Transfer Office at CUET, led by SPM Professor Dr. Sojal Chandra Banik (Director, Research and Extension Directorate), ASPM Syed Masrur Rahman, and member SPMT Assistant Researcher Nusrat Sultana.
Also in attendance were deans of various faculties including Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain (Electrical and Computer Engineering), Professor Dr. Asiful Haque (Civil and Environmental Engineering), Professor Dr. A.H. Rashedul Hossain (Science and Technology), Professor Dr. Kazi Afzalur Rahman (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering), Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan (Architecture and Planning), the additional registrar Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, department heads, UETFS members, and other faculty members.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya stated, “The HIT Project is a transformative initiative for advancing higher education and technological research. Through this project, our university will enhance research infrastructure, build capacity, and open new avenues for national and international collaboration. It will further strengthen CUET’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a research and innovation-driven technological university.”
