Apple Accelerates iPhone 17 Assembly

Apple has instructed its suppliers to ramp up production of the new iPhone 17 models. Technology publication The Information reported that due to pre-order demand exceeding expectations, Apple has requested at least a 30 percent increase in output, according to Reuters.

The report noted that over the past weekend, a large number of buyers showed interest in the more affordable $799 iPhone 17, driving demand above that for the premium Pro version, which starts at $1,099.

Apple has asked Luxshare Precision, one of its primary suppliers in China alongside Foxconn, to increase daily production by nearly 40 percent.

The new series also includes a slimmer “iPhone Air.” Apple expects that the updated design and enhanced features will help revive sales. Some Pro features have now been incorporated into the entry-level iPhone 17, narrowing the price gap between the models.

Analysts noted, “While the sale of the more affordable model may help increase market share, it could reduce Apple’s profit margin.”
