Starlink is set to establish a Robotics and Internet of Things (IoT) Research Centre at Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park. With support from local infrastructure partner Bondstein Technologies, the company has already leased one acre of land in the park for 40 years.

Mir Shahrukh Islam, Managing Director and CEO of Bondstein Technologies, said, “After the plot was allocated in April, construction of the ground station took until July; it has now been completed. However, only a fraction of Starlink’s planned operations at Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park has begun. So far, only 10 antennas have been installed, with 30 more to follow. Through this ground station, Starlink will provide networking services across the country.”

Sources said the space was acquired at an annual rate of $2 per square meter, including service charges. In addition to Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park, Starlink has also constructed ground stations at Gazipur’s Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park and Jashore Hi-Tech Park, which will allow centralized operations.

Moreover, domestic company Agni Systems Limited has acquired one acre at Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park, which launched in 2024. Discussions are ongoing with BRAC IT for land allocation, following a site visit by BRAC CEO Asif Saleh, who requested two acres for 650 IT employees. Pran-RFL is also acquiring space to operate IT business process outsourcing, graphic design, and training facilities.

According to Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park authorities, the park has been built on 31 acres along the Padma River near the court area of Rajshahi city, at a cost of BDT 343 crore. The term of the Hi-Tech Park Rajshahi Establishment Project ended on 30 June 2024, after which the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority assumed management of the park.
