BRAC Bank has denied any data leakage through its systems, assuring that customer information remains secure and that its protective infrastructure is functioning normally. The statement comes following the Election Commission's suspension of NID verification services for Ansar-VDP and Brac, amid concerns over attempted data breaches.

Responding to the news reported by various media outlets regarding the Election Commission's temporary suspension of NID verification services, Ikram Kabir, Senior Executive Vice President (Communications) at BRAC Bank, clarified the bank's position on Wednesday. He stated, “BRAC Bank’s attention has been drawn to reports titled ‘Election Commission temporarily suspends NID verification access’. Media outlets, citing EC sources, have reported that there was an attempted hack of the NID database through bank systems. In reality, BRAC Bank assures everyone that our protection mechanisms have functioned normally, and no data has been leaked through our systems.”

The bank's written statement further asserted, “BRAC Bank’s technology infrastructure is robust and resilient, capable of resisting any hacking attempts. The system remains under continuous monitoring by a skilled and professional team. Following the Election Commission’s move, BRAC Bank immediately initiated an internal investigation and has begun cooperating with law enforcement agencies to take prompt punitive action against any responsible parties.”

The bank also confirmed it is in regular communication with the Election Commission to restore access to the NID server as quickly as possible.
