General students of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) have strongly protested recent statements and social media posts made by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shariful Alam regarding upcoming examinations.

In a joint statement released on Saturday (November 7, 2026), students welcomed academic initiatives to resume exams but rejected any attempt by individuals to frame the process as personal authority or individual achievement.

The students stated that prolonged campus paralysis had severely impacted their academic progression and families, prompting them to formally approach faculty members for exam arrangements. They viewed the positive response from deans, department heads, and teachers as a responsible and ethical step. However, they condemned attempts to brand student-led appeals as leadership triumphs for specific individuals or to shift administrative liabilities onto learners. They also criticized presenting unverified personal emails as the unified stance of the general student body.

Furthermore, students expressed deep concern over publishing official exam routines and departmental documents on personal social media handles to target teachers and students, urging that internal disputes be resolved through institutional channels rather than public posts.

Concluding the statement, students affirmed their readiness to sit for exams under faculty supervision—strictly devoid of individual supremacy—while demanding that no retaliatory or punitive actions be taken against cooperating teachers. They also reaffirmed their firm stance demanding the reinstatement of former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem.
