Robi Axiata PLC, in partnership with Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), has launched Bangla QR-based digital payment facilities across all its Walk-In Centers (WIC) and nationwide retail network to make cashless transactions simpler and more customer-friendly. Through this initiative, the two organizations have taken a new step toward making cashless transactions more accessible and convenient for consumers.

The initiative was formally inaugurated on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2026, at the Robi-Circle Customer Care Center located at Safura Tower in Banani, Dhaka. Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Managing Director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Syed Mahbubur Rahman and Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer of Robi Shahed Alam were also present.

Under this new feature, customers can make payments by scanning the Bangla QR code at any Robi outlet. For this, supported applications from participating banks, Mobile Financial Services (MFS), or Payment Service Providers (PSP) can be utilized. Through a unified merchant QR code, customers will be able to seamlessly complete transactions directly from their accounts without physical cash.

Speaking at the event, Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman stated that building a cashless and digital economy requires greater collaboration among financial institutions, commercial enterprises, and technology-driven service providers. Interoperable payment solutions like Bangla QR can make digital transactions more accessible to the country's population. He encouraged more businesses to adopt such services to accelerate the development of an inclusive digital financial ecosystem in the country.

Mutual Trust Bank Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman stated that the expansion of digital payments hinges on how simple, accessible, and reliable transactions are made for consumers. By introducing Bangla QR across all Robi Walk-In Centers and nationwide retail outlets, they are broadening its adoption. He added that combining MTB's payment capabilities with Robi's extensive customer reach will help deliver integrated digital payment solutions for everyday transactions.

Robi Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam stated that the core objective of digital transformation is to render daily life simpler and more convenient for people. By introducing Bangla QR across their Walk-In Centers and retail network nationwide, customers will gain more opportunities to pay using their familiar and trusted applications. He noted that this partnership with MTB merges telecommunications and financial services, bringing digital convenience closer to people's daily routines.

The initiative has been launched in alignment with Bangladesh Bank's 'One Nation, One QR' vision, aiming to establish an integrated and interoperable digital payment infrastructure across the country. Alongside simplifying consumer transactions, the initiative is expected to play a key role in the digital transformation of Robi's retail and supply chain operations, facilitating faster and more efficient fund collection and transfer among consumers, retailers, distributors, and the enterprise. Through this partnership, Robi and MTB reaffirmed their commitment to expanding digital financial services and driving Bangladesh's evolving digital economy.
