Walton has assembled a star-studded squad targeting the title in the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) new D-Three Trophy competition. With national all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz as its icon player, the franchise has also recruited established cricketers including Litton Kumar Das, Taskin Ahmed, Mominul Haque, Nasum Ahmed and Marshall Ayub. Walton’s management and coaching staff are optimistic about the team’s prospects, citing a combination of experience and emerging talent.

The player auction for the D-Three Trophy was held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka on Monday, 26 October 2026. A total of 269 cricketers went under the hammer during the eight-hour event, which began at 10am and was conducted by experienced Indian auctioneer Charu Sharma. Six franchises competed to secure their preferred players. Each team selected 22 players at auction in addition to its pre-designated icon, giving each franchise a 23-player squad.

Major signings: Taskin and Litton

One of Walton’s biggest acquisitions was national-team fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, signed for 21 million points. The franchise secured wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das for 15.5 million points and experienced Test batter Mominul Haque for eight million.

Walton also signed spinner Nasum Ahmed for 6.9 million points, Ariful Islam for 6.2 million, Marshall Ayub for 3.6 million and Rony Talukdar for three million.

To strengthen its bowling attack, Walton added young fast bowler Md. Iqbal Hasan Emon for 6.6 million points. Promising all-rounder Samiun Basir Ratul was signed for 5.4 million, while Habibur Rahman Sohan and Rezaur Rahman Raja joined for 3.2 million points each.

The squad combines experienced players with younger talent. Walton will look to Miraz’s all-round ability, Litton’s batting, Taskin’s pace and Mominul’s experience in the longer format. Nasum’s spin and the batting experience of Rony and Marshall could also prove valuable across the three formats.

Abdur Razzak to coach Walton

Former national-team star spinner Abdur Razzak will serve as Walton’s head coach in the D-Three Trophy. Expressing satisfaction with the squad after the auction, he said the auction structure had given each franchise an opportunity to build a team featuring established players. Walton, he said, had used that opportunity to assemble a strong squad.

Actor Amin Khan represented Walton at the auction. He expressed confidence in the team’s composition and said the franchise would compete with the title as its target. He believes the players’ abilities, combined with the guidance of an experienced coach, can help Walton deliver strong performances.

“Everyone wants their team to win. I also expect Walton to win. Given how the team has been assembled, the players selected and the fact that we have the best coach with us, we hope to put on a good performance and, of course, win,” Amin Khan said.

Although the squad includes players such as Miraz and Litton with experience of captaining the national team, Walton has yet to finalise its captain. Razzak said the decision would be made according to the team’s needs and circumstances.

Razzak said he was enjoying his new role, particularly the opportunity to remain involved in cricket, spend time close to the game and work with players. However, he emphasised that fulfilling his responsibilities and helping the team achieve good results mattered more than personal enjoyment.

A three-format challenge

The D-Three Trophy brings T20, one-day and four-day cricket together under a single competition. The six franchises will have to demonstrate their strength across all three formats. Walton aims to meet that challenge by combining the experience of established players, the energy of younger cricketers and the coaching staff’s planning.
