Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam has called for continued vigilance and unity to preserve the country’s peace, stability and democratic environment, saying no form of anarchy or terrorist activity will be tolerated. He made the remarks at a protest procession and rally organised by Madhupur Upazila BNP in Tangail on Wednesday, September 23.
The programme was organised in protest against what the organisers described as anarchy and terrorist activities by the Awami League, whose activities are currently banned nationwide.
Fakir Mahbub Anam said the BNP government has been working relentlessly for public welfare during the seven months since assuming office. He said various forms of conspiracies had already begun and urged everyone to remain alert against any attempt to disrupt peace.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam currently serves as minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The protest procession began at the Upazila BNP office and passed through major roads of Madhupur town. At the rally, speakers included Upazila BNP President Md. Zakir Hossain Sarkar, General Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin, Pourashava BNP President Khurram Khan Yusufji Prince, General Secretary Md. Motalib Hossain, Upazila BNP Senior Vice-President M Ratan Haidar and Pourashava BNP Vice-President Lily Sarkar, among other local leaders.
The speakers stressed the importance of maintaining peace, law and order and stability in the country, and called for organised resistance against anarchy and terrorist activities.
Leaders and activists from the Upazila and Pourashava BNP, Jubo Dal and various affiliated and associate organisations attended the programme. A separate report on Wednesday’s programme also confirmed the procession’s route from the Upazila BNP office through the town’s major roads and the participation of local BNP leaders.
