BAU reshuffles top research, administrative posts

Scientific research infrastructure and institutional operations at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) gained new leadership across key administrative, laboratory, and research bodies. Appointments cover the Central Laboratory, BAURES, Student Affairs Advisory, Proctorial Body, Higher Education Committee, and IQAC. BAU Registrar Agriculturist Dr. Md. Helal Uddin confirmed the appointments on Thursday, 20 August 2026, according to a press release.
Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarder of the Department of Fisheries Biology and Genetics has been appointed as the new Student Affairs Adviser. Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam from the Institute of Biotechnology took charge as Associate Student Affairs Adviser.
In technical and research management, Professor Dr. Mohammad Gulzarul Aziz of the Department of Food Engineering and Technology has been appointed Director of the Professor Muhammad Hussain Central Laboratory. Professor Dr. Md. Samsul Alam Bhuiyan of the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics took over as Director of Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES), succeeding Professor Dr. Md. Hammadur Rahman.
Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin of the Department of Animal Science has been appointed Coordinator of the Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) and Super of Shaheed Saad Ibn Momtaz PhD Dormitory. Professor Dr. Mst. Minara Khatun of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene took charge as Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), succeeding Professor Dr. Md. Shahed Reza. Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidur Rahman and Assistant Professor Dr. Md. Masud Rana were appointed Assistant Proctors, replacing Professor Dr. Md. Elias Hossain and Professor Dr. Mahbubul Pratik Siddique. Four Assistant Proctors, including Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, remain in their roles.
BAU Registrar Dr. Md. Helal Uddin stated that these responsibilities supplement the faculties' academic duties. He commended the outgoing administrators for their dedication and expressed confidence that the newly appointed faculty members would advance scientific research and institutional governance.
