Telecom infrastructure modernization requires the active integration of engineering talent and technological innovation, stated Postal, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam. He made the remarks on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) while addressing the newly appointed Assistant Divisional Engineers of the 27th BCS Telecom Cadre at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam highlighted telecommunications as the cornerstone of socioeconomic growth. He emphasized that sustaining digital transformation requires advanced, technology-driven infrastructure along with skilled human capital. Urging engineers to align with global technological shifts, he stressed the values of professional integrity, accountability, and public service.

The Minister instructed officials to leverage emerging technologies to deliver affordable, high-quality, and uninterrupted connectivity across remote terrains. Before the orientation session, the Minister inspected operations at the Cyber Threat Detection and Response (CTDR) Center located within the department.

Department of Telecommunications Director General Md. Ashraf Hossain, PhD, presided over the meeting, where newly inducted engineers and senior departmental officials were present.
