ASSET Trains 2.25 Lakh People Rapidly
- ASSET project trains 225,336 individuals in market-oriented technical skills over six months

Under the government's Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project, 225,336 individuals received market-driven skills training in the first six months of this year. On Tuesday (18 August), the Ministry of Education announced that the Directorate of Technical Education, operating under the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, conducted these training programs from February to August.
According to project metrics, female participation reached a significant milestone. Out of total trainees, 130,470 were women (57.90%) and 94,866 were men, exceeding male participants by 35,604. The enrollment included 4,080 individuals from ethnic minority groups and 779 persons with disabilities. Under the 360-hour institution-based short training, 21,702 trainees completed courses with 38.87% female attendance. Concurrently, 203,634 individuals received industry and workplace-based training, where female representation reached 59.93%. The National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) assesses and certifies trainees upon course completion.
To sustain operational achievements and fulfill extended targets, the project's duration was extended by 18 months until 30 June 2028 with World Bank concurrence. Following government requests made on 26 April, the World Bank officially approved the extension and restructuring on 29 July. During this extended timeframe, the Ministry plans to expand skill training coverage for marginalized communities, women, and persons with disabilities while enforcing strict digital tracking and quality control mechanisms. //DBTech/NAP/MSI//
