Consul General urges expatriates to stay united against any destabilizing attempts
July Mass Uprising Day Observed with Due Solemnity in Los Angeles
The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles observed the 'July Mass Uprising Day 2026' with due dignity and solemnity. A large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, including freedom fighters, July warriors, leaders of various political and social organizations, professionals, journalists, intellectuals, and youth representatives, spontaneously participated in the event held on 5 August at the consulate premises.
The program commenced with a one-minute silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by the reading of official messages issued by the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
During the discussion session, July warriors and youth representatives shared their firsthand experiences of the uprising. Speakers noted that the public's accumulated anger against prolonged fascist rule, corruption, misrule, deprivation of voting rights, and political oppression culminated in the mass student-people uprising in July.
They strongly demanded the extradition of the head of the fallen fascist Awami government to face trial for genocide and crimes against humanity, along with his associates. The discussion also highlighted the crucial role played by non-resident Bangladeshis in mobilizing international public opinion during the movement.
In his concluding remarks, Consul General Kazi Muhammad Javed Iqbal paid tribute to the martyrs and emphasized that preserving the spirit and achievements of the historic victory against autocracy is a collective responsibility. He stressed that any conspiracy to destabilize the country and the government must be resisted at all costs through united efforts. He urged everyone to remain vigilant so that fallen fascist forces or any evil elements cannot disrupt the nation's peace, stability, and democratic progress. The event concluded with special prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs and wishing for the continued progress, peace, and prosperity of Bangladesh.
