Disrupts Access to PMO, BTRC and Multiple Government Websites
- Multiple government websites became temporarily inaccessible on Wednesday morning.
- Users encountered Error 503 Backend fetch failed messages.
- Authorities say the disruption was caused by a power-related issue and restoration work is ongoing.
Access to several government websites, including the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), and various ministries and departments, was temporarily disrupted on Wednesday morning.
Users attempting to access the websites around 10:00 a.m. were greeted with error messages stating "Error 503 Backend fetch failed," "Guru Meditation," and "Varnish cache server." Similar issues were reported on the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Press Information Department (PID), and several other gov.bd domain websites.
Attempts to access the websites using different devices and internet connections were also unsuccessful.
While no ministry initially issued a detailed official statement, a reliable BTRC source said maintenance and development work on the websites was underway.
Meanwhile, Adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Rehan Asif Asad, told the media that the disruption was caused by a power-related issue.
He said, "The problem has been identified. The websites are inaccessible due to a power issue, and work is underway to restore the services."
According to sources, the issue is being taken seriously and the problem is being resolved. It is said that the problem will be resolved by the afternoon.
