Elon Musk has taken another major step toward transforming X, formerly Twitter, into a "super app" with the official launch of its long-awaited banking and financial services platform, X Money. The new service is currently available to Premium and Premium Plus subscribers on the X platform in the United States.

Metal Visa Card and Attractive Returns

Under the newly launched service, users will receive customized metal Visa debit cards. The cards allow customers to withdraw cash from ATMs worldwide without fees and make international transactions without incurring additional charges.

X Money also offers customers an annual percentage yield (APY) of up to 6 percent on eligible deposits, along with up to 3 percent cashback on qualifying purchases. Users can instantly send money to other X Money users within the app free of charge. The service also supports wire transfers and payments by check.

Security and Banking Partnership

X has introduced a range of security features to safeguard financial transactions on the platform. Users can set their own transaction limits and make passkey authentication mandatory for enhanced account security. Every card transaction will also be protected by Visa's advanced security infrastructure.

To safeguard customer deposits, X has partnered with Cross River Bank. Funds deposited through the service will be insured by the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for up to $250,000 per depositor.

Elon Musk has long envisioned turning X into a platform similar to China's WeChat, where users can manage both social networking and financial activities in one place. The launch of X Money marks a significant milestone toward that goal. Although the service is currently limited to paying users in the United States, the company plans to expand its availability in phases.
