Nvidia CEO Plans China Visit Amid AI Chip Market Uncertainty
Nvidia’s Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang is planning a trip to China later this month with the goal of re-entering the country’s significant artificial intelligence chip market. According to Bloomberg, citing Reuters, Huang may also visit Beijing and participate in various corporate events ahead of the Chinese New Year.
It remains unclear whether he will meet with China’s top government officials during this visit. Reports indicate that the itinerary could change depending on the confirmation of any such meetings. Reuters was unable to verify this information immediately, and Nvidia has not issued any official comment.
This initiative comes at a time when the Trump administration in the United States recently approved the sale of Nvidia’s second-most powerful AI chip, the H200, to China. The approval raised hopes that the long-restricted supply of chips to China could begin to open.
However, the very next day, Chinese customs authorities stated that the H200 chip had not been granted entry into the country. As a result, Nvidia’s path to re-entering the Chinese market remains uncertain.
