40 journalists join a two-day hands-on training program at PIB
AI and Fact-Checking Skills for Political Reporters
A two-day training program has been launched to strengthen political journalists’ skills in using artificial intelligence, identifying misinformation, and improving digital reporting practices.
A specialized two-day training program has begun to enhance journalists’ skills in using artificial intelligence (AI) in political reporting and detecting misinformation.
Organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the training is being held at the PIB classroom in Dhaka and includes participation from 40 members of the Political Reporters Forum (PRF).
The program, launched on Saturday, June 20, focuses on equipping journalists with practical knowledge to navigate the rapidly evolving digital media landscape through technology-driven reporting and stronger verification practices.
Sessions are being conducted by experienced trainers and media professionals from different institutions. Resource persons include Associate Professor Dr. Jamil Khan of Daffodil University, Head of New Media at Dhaka Post Ariful Islam Arman, Program Officer of Sakmed Abu Sufian, and PIB trainer Zilhaj Uddin Nipun.
Participants are receiving hands-on training on verifying manipulated images and videos, identifying AI-generated content, improving cybersecurity awareness, and applying techniques for accurate and responsible reporting.
The opening session was chaired by PRF President Khondokar Kawshar Hossain, where speakers highlighted the growing importance of ethical technology use and evidence-based journalism.
According to the organizers, the initiative will help journalists strengthen verification skills, improve newsroom efficiency, and adapt more effectively to the demands of digital-era reporting.
