To reduce public harassment and enhance transparency and accountability in administrative services, the Dhaka District Administration is set to launch a new citizen support service titled “Hello DC.” Through this initiative, citizens will be able to directly contact the district administration by phone to submit complaints, seek information, and provide feedback.

The announcement was made on Sunday, May 17, during an exchange meeting with the Court Reporters Unity held at the conference room of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s office by Farida Khanam.

She said the “Hello DC” service will allow people at the grassroots level to easily communicate their problems and complaints. The service will remain active daily from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Citizens will also be able to offer suggestions regarding district administration activities. Detailed information about the service will be announced soon.

Farida Khanam noted that although the district administration regularly organizes public hearings, this technology-driven initiative will make citizen services more accessible and efficient. She added that direct communication would help authorities identify and resolve problems more quickly.

She also emphasized the importance of raising public awareness against online gambling and drug abuse. According to the Deputy Commissioner, initiatives will be taken to create and promote awareness-focused digital content involving celebrities in order to protect future generations from the harmful effects of narcotics and online gambling.

Highlighting the importance of objective journalism at the event titled “Exchange Meeting with Media Professionals,” she said the media plays a vital role in presenting the realities of society. She encouraged journalists to fearlessly report any harassment, irregularities, or corruption faced by service seekers in district administration offices.

Among those present at the event were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Abdul Warech Ansari, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Shamima Sultana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) Md. Mahabub Ullah Majumdar, and Tejgaon Circle Officer Tarikul Islam.

The meeting was also attended by officials from various upazilas, including executive officers, as well as Liton Mahmud, Mamun Khan, and journalists from different media outlets.
