Governance Grid: Gopalganj Development Dialogue Drives Data-Driven Delivery
A special discussion meeting on local government institutions and ongoing development activities in Gopalganj district was held at the initiative of the Local Government Division. The meeting, held on 10 May, Sunday, at the conference room of the Local Government Division in the capital Dhaka, reviewed the progress, challenges, and future plans of various development projects in the district.
As State Minister for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam attended the inauguration ceremony of Police Week, Secretary of the Local Government Division Md. Shahidul Hasan performed the duties of the chief guest at the meeting.
Members of Parliament from Gopalganj—Md. Selimuzzaman Molla (Gopalganj-1), K M Babar (Gopalganj-2), and S M Jilani (Gopalganj-3)—were present at the meeting. They highlighted the development needs of their respective constituencies and sought the ministry’s support for the swift implementation of projects.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced bringing Gopalganj under development with equal importance as other districts of the country. As part of implementing that goal, the meeting was organized to review ongoing development activities and outline future plans for the district.
The meeting presented updates on the progress of various ongoing projects and highlighted challenges related to implementation. Based on the discussions, the Secretary provided recommendations to make project execution more dynamic, effective, and timely.
Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Wing Md. Mahmudul Hasan NDC; Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department Md. Belal Hossain; Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering Md. Abdul Awal; Executive Engineer of LGED Gopalganj district Md. Ehsanul Haque; and directors of various development projects in the district were also present at the meeting.
