An automated toll collection system has been introduced at the toll plazas of 14 important bridges under the Roads and Highways Department Bangladesh to facilitate smoother transportation and reduce traffic congestion in the country. With this system, drivers can now pay tolls automatically from their bKash accounts without stopping at toll booths.

To access the service, customers must register their vehicles once through the bKash app. After registration, an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sticker placed on the vehicle’s windshield will be scanned while passing through the respective toll plaza, and the designated toll amount will automatically be deducted from the user’s bKash account.

This system will help avoid long queues of vehicles at toll plazas and allow vehicles to pass without stopping. Even if the customer is not present in the vehicle or if there is no internet connection while crossing the toll plaza, the toll fee will still be deducted automatically. The customer will later receive a notification on their registered mobile phone.

The facility has been introduced at 14 toll plazas across different regions of the country, including Shaheed Moyez Uddin Bridge in Narsingdi, two toll plazas of the Meghna-Gomti Bridge, the Third Shitalakshya Bridge, Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge, Madhumati Bridge, Karnaphuli Bridge, Khan Jahan Ali Bridge, Lalon Shah Bridge, the Hatikamrul-Bonpara Road toll plaza, Hazrat Shah Paran Bridge, Lebukhali Bridge, and the 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge.

Customers can easily register for the service by going to the ‘Toll’ option from the home screen of the bKash app and selecting ‘Register Motor Vehicle’, then entering the vehicle information. If necessary, users will also have the option to cancel the registration later through the app.
