Dating Data Debacle: Security Flaw Exposes Users of ‘RAW’ App
A security vulnerability in the dating app ‘RAW’ exposed sensitive user data, including names, birthdates, sexual and dating preferences, and precise GPS locations, according to a report by TechCrunch.
Launched in 2023, the app markets itself as a platform for building “real relationships” through daily selfie uploads. Although it claims to use end-to-end encryption, TechCrunch found no evidence to support this in their independent testing.
The company has confirmed that the issue has been resolved following the TechCrunch investigation. However, it has not conducted any third-party security audit, nor has it made a clear commitment on whether affected users will be notified.
