Threads Thrives, Tallying 400 Million Monthly Users
Meta’s social media platform Threads, launched two years ago as a rival to Twitter (now X), has reached 400 million monthly active users, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced on Tuesday.
Mosseri stated, “A few weeks ago, Threads surpassed 400 million monthly active users,” noting that this reflects an increase of 50 million over the last quarter.
At the end of April, Meta’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg had reported the platform’s user base at 350 million. While X currently boasts over 600 million monthly users, data from Similarweb indicates that Threads has nearly caught up with X in terms of daily mobile usage.
In June 2025, Threads recorded 115.1 million daily mobile users, representing a year-on-year growth of 127.8%. Over the past year, the platform has introduced numerous new features, including direct messaging (DM), Fediverse integration, custom feeds, and AI-powered tools.
