Sony is going to manufacture in Bangladesh from next year with Smart Technologies
Japanese brand products will be made in Bangladesh from next year. In the meantime, construction of Sony's factory has started on two plots of Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakair, Gazipur. Smart Technologies will manage the factory in Bangladesh.
Md. Zahirul Islam, managing director of Smart Technologies, said this at the opening ceremony of Sony's Android television Bravia K series at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, "We have already been allocated space at the Hi-Tech Park. Once our factory is ready, we hope within a year we will be able to manufacture world-class electronics products in Bangladesh with Sony. Our main goal is to export our products to meet the needs of the country's market."
And as a result of this initiative, Sony's products will soon come within the reach of the common people, said Water Resources Minister Zahid Farooq while delivering his speech. That's why he attracted the attention of Atsushi Endo, president of Sony Southeast Asia, who was present at the event.
In his speech, Chief Guest Mr. Zaheed Farooque, Hon'ble State Minister for Water Resources said, "The role of SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd, a leading company in Bangladesh, is very important in realizing the dream of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in building Digital Bangladesh. On her behalf, I heartily congratulate Sony Corporation and SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd on this initiative. SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd. will make the country more dynamic, will take the country further by setting up Sony's manufacturing plant in the country, Bangladesh will be our country of pride in the whole world. Japanese entrepreneurs are coming here, trusting SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd's services, trusting and relying on marketing and feedback.”
Meanwhile, the minister emphasized the honesty, sincerity and dedication of all in building a prosperous Bangladesh.
Mr. Zaheed Farooque also said, “At today's event, along with receiving the Ambassador of Japan, the country of origin of Sony, my confidence in the genuine products of SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd. has been strengthened. Since Sony of Japan is with us, I can confidently say that everyone will get genuine products at genuine prices and genuine services from SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd."
In the speech of the special guest, Japanese Ambassador ITO Naoki expressed optimism that the Japan-Bangladesh trade relationship will enter a new era through the establishment of Sony's factory in Bangladesh through Smart.
The Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, said, "Sony's new products are coming to the market, which are made keeping in mind the maximum convenience of the customers. Genuine products from Japan never disappoint customers. Rather, it creates a place of trust and confidence. I hope Sony-SMART will work together to maintain that trust and confidence of customers.”
Among others, Additional Inspector General of Police Shafiqul Islam, Smart Technologies Chairman Mazharul Islam and others were present.
It was informed on the occasion that today, through the official unveiling, there are 7 screen size TVs of Sony Bravia K series in total 18 models including 2 OLED models of 55 inch and 65 inch size in the market of the country. Among these, Smart Technologies has released K series TVs in the market in sizes ranging from 32 to 85 inches.
Smart MD said in his speech, “Globally IT, ICT and electronics products are coming under one umbrella. SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd is not exempt from this digital evolution. That is why we are marketing electronics products as the first technology company in the country.
