Saleh Uddin Ahmed, the new Advisor of Science and Technology
The offices of five advisers, including the chief adviser to the interim government, have been redistributed. As a result of the redistribution, the responsibility of the Ministry of Science and Technology has been given to former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Saleh Uddin Ahmed, which was earlier held by the Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Earlier he got the charge of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Commerce. That is, through this, Saleh Uddin Ahmed became the science and technology advisor along with finance and commerce.
The Cabinet Department issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday (August 27). The chief adviser has redistributed this responsibility to the advisers. As a result, six ministries and departments will now be under the chief advisor, down from the previous 10 ministries. They are - Cabinet Department, Defense Ministry, Armed Forces Department, Food Ministry, Public Administration Ministry and Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry.
As per the redistribution, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Adviser Hasan Arif has also got the charge of the Ministry of Lands. Textiles and Jute Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain has been given the new responsibility of the Ministry of Shipping. Besides, Advisor Sharmin S. Murshid has been newly given the charge of Ministry of Women and Child Affairs. Earlier she was in charge of Ministry of Social Welfare.
During the entire tenure of the previous government, architect Yeafesh Osman, the son of writer Shouquat Osman, was in charge of this ministry.
