High Court constituted a four-member board headed by Justice Manik

The High Court has constituted a four-member board for the management of e-commerce company Evaly Limited, which is much discussed for embezzling money through fraud. The other members of the five-member board formed by former Appellate Division Judge HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik as Chairman are Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, former Secretary, Local Government and Rural Development Department and Mahbubul Kabir, former Additional Secretary (who is in OSD), Fakhruddin Ahmed, Chartered Accountant. And Supreme Court Lawyer Barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz. Among them, Additional Secretary (OSD) Mahbub Kabir will be the Ex-Officio Managing Director (MD) on government pay. A single High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar on Monday announced the names of the board members. The order said that the board members will sit in the board meeting as soon as they get the order of the High Court. They will get to realize everything, what is left where, how the company goes on, the board meeting will sit first. The board will see where the money is, where the liabilities are. Earlier, in a hearing on October 12, the court had said that the private company could have a four-member board. Four people including retired judges, secretaries, chartered accountants can be placed on the board. On that day, the court asked the lawyer of the Ministry of Commerce to talk to the concerned minister and secretary and give the names of the current or former secretary and additional secretary. Following this, their lawyers submitted the names of the three former secretaries proposed by the Commerce Ministry to the court on October 13. The High Court fixed October 18 (today) for the hearing. Accordingly, the case came up in the agenda today.
