Global materials science and digital identification solutions company Avery Dennison is expanding its investment and technological capabilities in Bangladesh’s apparel industry through manufacturing, warehouse automation and digital product identification solutions. The company says its newly launched smart warehouse at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Savar has increased product processing speed by 72% and storage capacity fivefold.
Alongside its operations in Dhaka, Avery Dennison runs three production facilities in Chattogram. The company recently launched an 830-square-metre smart warehouse at DEPZ in Savar. The facility is equipped with seven automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and can store up to 25,000 cartons.
According to the company, the new system has increased product processing speed by 72% and storage capacity fivefold compared with the previous arrangement. The warehouse is part of its Manufacturing 4.0 strategy, aimed at making storage, inventory management and supply operations faster and more efficient through automation.
Avery Dennison presented its investments and technology initiatives at the 30th US Trade Show, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), from November 5 to 7 at the InterContinental Dhaka.
The exhibition was jointly organised by AmCham and the US Embassy in Dhaka to mark 30 years of trade relations between Bangladesh and the United States. Speaker of the National Parliament Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, attended the inauguration as chief guest.
At the trade show, Avery Dennison showcased several technology-driven solutions for the apparel industry, including Embelex, Optica and Reddippt.
Embelex provides integrated apparel embellishment, decoration and branding services for international sports, lifestyle, workwear and fashion brands.
Optica enables digital connectivity across different stages of production and supply chains. It allows businesses to monitor product locations, production progress and supply chain operations.
Reddippt and the company’s consumer engagement solutions use QR codes, near-field communication (NFC) and radio-frequency identification (RFID) technologies to link digital information with apparel products. Consumers can access information about a product’s manufacturing process, materials and other relevant details. These solutions can also support international brands in managing digital product passports and advancing sustainable production practices.
Sajjad Hossain, general manager of Avery Dennison’s Apparel Solutions for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, said demand for speed, transparency and sustainable innovation was increasing across the global apparel supply chain. He said Avery Dennison was committed to advancing alongside Bangladesh’s apparel and textile industries.
He added that the company aimed to create long-term value for local manufacturers and international brands through continued investment and the integration of modern supply chain management with digital technologies.
