9 Innovations Win BIN Chaimpion Recognition
- 44 innovations were recognised from 355 submitted projects.
- Champions and winners will represent Bangladesh at APICTA Awards 2026.
- Students built a low-cost Braille printer for Tk28,000.
Artificial intelligence, digital healthcare and assistive technology emerged as key innovation areas as the Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Network (BIN) recognised 44 innovations from 355 submitted projects. Nine innovations won Champion awards, 10 were named Winners and 25 received Merit awards. Low-cost Braille printing, AI-powered technologies and connected digital healthcare solutions were among the notable innovations recognised this year.
The Champion and Winner innovations will be nominated to represent Bangladesh at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2026. The 25 Merit awards included five innovations in the institutional category, three in the individual or team category and 17 in the student category.
In the institutional category, the Champion awards went to Sokrio DMS by Sokrio Technologies Limited, My ECG AI by Teton Private Limited, and The Sukhi Way: Connected Care Through Integrated Digital Services by Grameen HealthTech Limited.
Speaking to DigiBangla after receiving the award, Sokrio DMS founder Mubir Chowdhury said Sokrio DMS digitises the entire field operation of sales and distribution. It allows companies to monitor and analyse sales team market visits, outlet coverage, orders and invoices, productivity, route adherence, and distributor and retailer performance from a single platform.
He said the system goes beyond data collection. It can identify performance gaps, revenue leakage and growth opportunities, enabling actionable decisions.
On AI, Chowdhury said the company is moving a step further. Its goal is not limited to dashboards or descriptive analytics. It aims to use AI to identify which outlets offer specific opportunities, which products or combinations have stronger potential, where inventory or sales problems may emerge, which field behaviours affect sales outcomes, and where management intervention is needed.
In other words, the company is moving from simply showing “what happened” to supporting the full decision-making process around “why it happened, what may happen next and what should be done now” through technology.
In the student category, Champions included AgentIAM from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Chronic from University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Sync V-1: Braille Embosser from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Arbor from Khulna University, and BrailleBridge from Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College.
Bindo won the Champion award in the individual or team category.
A total of 10 innovations were selected as Winners this year. Three came from the institutional category, one from the individual or team category and six from the student category.
Sourav Tarafder, team leader of Sync V-1: Braille Embosser at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, said a conventional Braille printer costs around Tk700,000. Such a high price creates difficulties for visually impaired students in Bangladesh, he said.
Considering the problem, their team developed a Braille printer at a cost of only Tk28,000. Tarafder said they would be able to produce the device on a much larger scale if they receive funding.
The event was organised by the Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Network (BIN). Its sponsors were Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), online marketplace Cartup, AIUB, Mutual Trust Bank PLC, Grameen HealthTech Limited, Super Star Group and Walton. AIUB, BRAC University and East West University were the knowledge partners. The Ministry of Science and Technology was the strategic partner.
BIN Chairman Syed Almas Kabir said a total of 355 projects were submitted this year by organisations, educational institutions and individuals or teams from across the country. Following preliminary screening, 118 projects were selected for final evaluation.
The institutional and individual or team projects were evaluated on September 17 at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The student-category projects were evaluated on September 19 at East West University.
The Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Awards 2026 was held on Saturday, October 3, at the BRAC University auditorium in Dhaka under the theme “Recognising Innovation, Inspiring Transformation”. Organisers said the winners received crests, certificates and gift vouchers.
Faqir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, attended the event as chief guest. Planning State Minister Md. Jonaid Abdur Rahim Saki attended as special guest.
Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Major General (Retd.) Md. Emdad ul Bari attended as guests of honour.
A 40-member judging panel comprising executives from government, banking and corporate sectors, academics, chamber representatives, startup experts and technology journalists evaluated the projects. The projects were assessed through a digital judging portal against four criteria: innovation, public utility, commercial potential and technological quality.
