Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain stated today that the government is bringing the world's most advanced medical technologies to Bangladesh to ensure top-tier healthcare services across national hospitals as per the Prime Minister's direct instructions. He made these remarks on Sunday (September 20) while addressing a seminar on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Week held at Dhaka Medical College.
Highlighting a growing health concern, the Health Minister noted that PCOS—a hormonal and metabolic disorder among women—is significantly contributing to rising infertility rates across the country. Discussions at the seminar revealed that 8 to 10 out of every 100 women in Bangladesh currently suffer from this condition. However, modern medical advancements globally have opened new doors for affected women to conceive safely.
To bridge this healthcare gap, the Minister announced that the government has already initiated communications with China and other technologically advanced nations to introduce cutting-edge treatment equipment and expertise to domestic hospitals swiftly. The initiative aims to make specialized fertility and hormonal treatments accessible to patients within Bangladesh.
