The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Rover Scout Group has launched a ‘Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Programme 2026’ to raise public awareness, eliminate potential breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes and maintain a clean and healthy campus environment.

The programme was inaugurated at 12 noon on Monday, September 14, on the university campus. The initiative aims to reduce dengue-related health risks among students while promoting a safer and healthier educational environment.

Before the programme, members of the Rover Scout Group paid a courtesy visit to newly appointed Student Affairs Adviser and President of BAU Rover Scouts Professor Dr G.M. Mujibor Rahman. The members welcomed him with a crest.

Professor Dr G.M. Mujibor Rahman later inaugurated the programme as chief guest.

The event was conducted by BAU Rover Scout Secretary Agriculturist Dr Md Zahirul Alam. BAU Acting Proctor Professor Dr Kazi Farhad Kadir, Associate Adviser Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam and Additional Registrar (Establishment) Dr Md Nazmul Haque were present.

Targeting Aedes Breeding Sites

As part of the campaign, Rover Scouts cleaned different areas of the university campus and conducted awareness activities on identifying and eliminating potential breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes.

They also highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean campus environment to reduce health risks for students.

The campaign emphasised that preventing dengue requires regular removal of places where Aedes mosquitoes can breed, alongside broader mosquito-control measures.

Weekly Programme Every Monday

Rover Scouts from different academic years participated in the campaign.

Organisers said the initiative would be conducted every Monday as part of the BAU Rover Scouts’ weekly den activities.

The regular programme is intended not only to keep the campus clean but also to strengthen health awareness and a sense of social responsibility among students in preventing dengue.
