- University administration pledges institutional backing for student research initiatives
Showcasing student-driven engineering advancements and technical research, twelve innovative projects from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) are participating in the 'Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026', organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The three-day national exposition runs from September 12 to 14 at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in Dhaka. Ahead of the exhibition, a coordination session was organized on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the university administrative building with the participating project innovators.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Khairul Islam highlighted institutional priorities for technological application, noting that Civil Engineering students were recently integrated into the technical execution of a one-kilometer campus road project. The administration assured continued logistical and academic backing to support student participation across national and global engineering platforms, while urging emerging technologists to target national developmental priorities through operational research.
The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. G. M. Rabiul Islam, Director of the Computer and Information Center and ICT Cell Director Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidur Rahman, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department Professor Dr. Md. Farhad Rabbi, and Acting Registrar Kalam Ahmad Chowdhury. Anchored on the theme 'Innovate to Market', the event aims to bridge the gap between academic prototypes and commercial technology ecosystems to bolster national economic output. //DBTech/OC/SE/EIC//
