Dhaka: 100 passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, stranded due to a technical glitch at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, have been relocated to hotels. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, M Rashiduzzaman Millat, confirmed the development in a press release issued at 11:00 PM on Saturday (August 8).
The Minister stated that elderly, sick, and child passengers stranded at the airport are receiving special care, alongside necessary medical supplies. Furthermore, embassy officials are present at the airport continuously to monitor passenger welfare. Engineers have begun repair work on the aircraft, with efforts underway to resolve the issue swiftly while maintaining constant communication with officials in Dhaka.
According to Biman, the scheduled aircraft for Flight BG306 operating from Rome on Friday (August 7) is currently declared 'Aircraft on Ground (AOG)'. To rectify the technical fault, an engineering team along with necessary spare parts is being dispatched to Rome from Dhaka via Flight BG305.
