Minister urges youth to focus on innovation over usage at 'Robofusion 1.0' festival
Action Against Companies Holding Unused Land in Hi-Tech Park: ICT Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam

Faqir Mahbub Anam, Minister for Posts, Telecommunications & Information Technology and Science & Technology, has urged students not to limit themselves to merely using technology but to concentrate deeply on research and innovation. He emphasized that students must align with global shifts in advanced fields like robotics and deploy technology solely for human welfare. He made these statements as the chief guest during the inaugural ceremony of the national robotics festival 'Robofusion 1.0', organized by the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB) at Kaliakoir in Gazipur on Saturday (August 8). The session was chaired by UFTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Moktar Ali.
While addressing the gathering, Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam issued a stern warning regarding the management of national industrial assets. He noted that numerous domestic and international corporations are eager to invest heavily in Bangladesh. Consequently, the government will initiate administrative actions against companies that have acquired land allocations inside the Hi-Tech Park but have left the plots unutilized without commencing operations. These structural allocations will be thoroughly reviewed and re-assigned to active, interested investors. He added, "Building a skilled workforce in robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and emerging tech is highly critical for Bangladesh. Our youth must lead technology innovation and problem-solving rather than remaining consumer units." He added that the government remains highly committed to leveraging AI for human welfare to drive employment and entrepreneurship among fresh graduates.
The inaugural program was graced by special guests including Member of Parliament for Gazipur-1, Md. Mojibur Rahman; Gazipur District Collector and District Magistrate, Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan; Managing Director of EATL Innovation Hub, M A Mubin Khan; and Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, Mohammad Yusuf Ali.
During the session, speakers collectively voiced the necessity of setting up the university's permanent campus. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) in his speech assured that mobile and gaming potentials must be directed towards positive streams, promising that the complications surrounding external power lines and land acquisition for the permanent campus will be resolved swiftly. A technical panel discussion on robotics and AI was also hosted at 3:30 PM to provide strategic career guidelines to the young tech enthusiasts.
