Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has departed for Malaysia on his first official state visit since assuming office. Responding to an invitation from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister left Dhaka on Sunday afternoon via a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and a high-level government delegation, notably including the Advisor for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Rehan Asif Asad are accompanying him on this crucial two-day visit.
The structure of the delegation reflects that alongside reopening the Malaysian labor market for Bangladeshi workers and driving trade investments, high-tech economic partnerships and digital financial integrations are receiving top priority. Experts note that IT Advisor Rehan Asif Asad's engagement will play a pivotal role in accelerating technological bilateral exchange and sustainable ICT growth.
The official delegation also features Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Expatriates' Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, Finance Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, and BIDA Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, among other state dignitaries. Kuala Lumpur has already prepared to welcome the delegation, decorating major avenues with the national flags of both nations.
Following the conclusion of his Malaysia tour, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will depart from Kuala Lumpur for Dalian, China on Monday. During his subsequent visit to China from June 23 to 26, several high-profile diplomatic meetings and strategic bilateral agreements are expected to be signed.
