Chattogram Eyes BPO Growth Ahead of BPO Summit 2026
A policy dialogue focusing on the future of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) sectors, workforce development, and technology-driven employment generation was held ahead of the upcoming BPO Summit Bangladesh 2026 (Chattogram).
The dialogue was organized at the Chattogram Deputy Commissioner's Office by Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), the Business Promotion Council (BPC), and the ICT Division.
The event was attended by Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Chattogram, as the chief guest. Officials from various government departments, industry leaders, and local stakeholders also participated in the discussion.
Participants highlighted the current state of the BPO and ITES industries, future growth opportunities, human resource development, technology-based employment generation, and the expansion of the regional digital economy.
Speakers noted that Chattogram has the potential to become one of Bangladesh’s leading outsourcing and digital service hubs by leveraging its large youth population, universities, and growing technology entrepreneurship ecosystem.
In his remarks, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia assured full administrative support for the successful organization of BPO Summit Bangladesh 2026 (Chattogram).
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance for freelancers and technology professionals while encouraging initiatives that promote skill development and sustainable career growth among young people.
Representatives of BACCO urged policymakers to classify the BPO and ITES sectors as essential services. According to them, restrictions on transportation and movement during emergencies can disrupt service delivery to international clients, potentially causing financial losses and damaging Bangladesh’s reputation in global markets.
They called for the formulation and implementation of supportive policies to ensure uninterrupted operations across the sector.
Industry representatives also presented recommendations for expanding the BPO industry in Chattogram, increasing local skill development initiatives, and connecting young professionals more effectively with global employment opportunities. They stressed the importance of regular industry-focused training programs, networking events, and professional development platforms.
The BPO Summit Bangladesh 2026 (Chattogram) will be held on June 20 at Khulshi Convention Hall under the theme “Where Talent Meets Global Opportunity.”
