BTRC’s One-Stop Success: Integrated Telecom Services Earn ‘Excellent’ Ratings
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is now delivering a wide range of telecommunications-related services—including licensing, spectrum management, engineering, finance, and enforcement—through a unified service platform under one roof. Stakeholders are currently receiving services from seven One Stop Service (OSS) booths established on the ground floor of the commission’s headquarters in Agargaon.
According to BTRC, performance evaluations conducted during the first ten months of operation have rated all seven OSS booths as “Excellent.” The Administration Division and the Enforcement and Inspection Division achieved a perfect score of 5.00 out of 5.00, while the remaining divisions recorded ratings ranging between 4.71 and 4.86.
BTRC officials said the primary objective of the One Stop Service initiative is to simplify and accelerate service delivery, improve accessibility to information and regulatory services, reduce the need for stakeholders to communicate with multiple departments separately, and enhance overall operational efficiency. The platform also incorporates a feedback mechanism and provides opportunities for service seekers to communicate directly with relevant officials when necessary.
Statistics from the OSS programme indicate a high level of user satisfaction during its first ten months of operation. The Spectrum Management Division recorded the highest number of visitors, serving 1,826 stakeholders. The Engineering and Operations Division provided services to 1,644 visitors, while the Finance and Accounting Directorate served 1,374 individuals.
In terms of feedback submissions, the Finance, Accounts and Revenue Division led with 260 responses. The Spectrum Management Division received 167 feedback submissions, while the Systems and Services Division collected 130.
The initiative also drew significant attention during the recent observance of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, where BTRC showcased its OSS platform at a public exhibition. Several visitors, customers, and entrepreneurs attending the event suggested that the service could become even more effective and user-friendly through the introduction of a mobile application, integrated online-offline service management, and application-tracking capabilities.
Industry stakeholders believe that such an integrated service model plays an important role in reducing both time and operational costs for license holders and entrepreneurs in the digital era. However, there is growing demand for further modernization through features such as mobile app support, real-time application tracking, and automated notification systems to enhance transparency and service efficiency.
